The 127th NZIS Conference is being held 15 -16 October 2015 in Wellington at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor on The Terrace.
The theme for the conference is Adapt, Innovate, Integrate. As surveying and spatial professionals we need to be flexible and adaptable to be successful as our environment changes. Change happens with natural disasters such as earthquakes and climate change causing sea level rise. In the business environment we deal constantly with the introduction of new technologies. The conference will explore how surveying and spatial communities are adapting to the changes that are happening now.
Presenters and key note speakers include the Minister of Land Information, the Hon Louise Upston who will open the conference on Thursday 15 October.
A key note presentation by Daniel Leddy on Risk Management – The Health and Safety Act; a topical subject at present, will lead off in the afternoon. Daniel is Professional Risks Manager at Glenn Stone Insurance.
This session will be followed by a choice of guided tours of the Banks Subdivision in Whitby, LINZ Office or
a guided tour of Transmission Gully.
Natural hazards and climate change feature on Friday with a keynote presentations from Dr Scott Stephens and Dr Rob Bell of the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research and Emeritus Prof. John Hannah.
