The Presenter: Tim Brooks - Skycam
Tim studied Information and Telecommunication Engineering at Massey University, Palmerston North and graduated with first class honors. He was also studied towards, and obtained, his PhD in communication electronics from the same University. Tim has been involved with UAV design and development since the early 2000s, working for Skycam (who had UAV experience reaching back to the late 1980s).
In 2006, Skycam was approached by the New Zealand Defense Force to support their new UAV Battle Lab. For the next 6 years, Skycam was the primary commercial provider of UAV systems and development.
In 2009, Skycam was awarded rights to commercialize the New-Zealand-developed autopilot system. Skycam used its design and development knowledge to produce a UAV that could successfully complete a wide range of tasks in inhospitable environments. These UAVs have operated in Antarctica, New Zealand, Australia and Borneo.
In 2014, Tim took over as director of Skycam.
