REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL SURVEYOR (RPSurv)

In October 2005, the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors adopted Registered Professional Surveyor as the premier title for members of the Institute. 

           The initial Registration Fee to become a Registered Professional Surveyor is $112-50 including GST

In order to use the title, members of the Institute are required to maintain the highest standards of professional and ethical behaviour.

As well as having to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD), Registered Professional Surveyors must also hold a 4-year Bachelor of Surveying degree or equivalent, have at least three years practical experience and have passed the Institute’s Professional Entrance Examinations.  They must also have advanced competence in two specific areas of surveying.

Each year, Registered Professional Surveyors are required to apply to have the status renewed.  If they do not meet the Institute’s stringent requirements for renewal they may not be able to continue to use the title or may be suspended from being able to use it.

Registered Professional Surveyors are accountable to the Institute for quality of workmanship, ethical behaviour and professionalism.  They are the client’s guarantee that work will be carried out to rigorous theoretical, practice and ethical standards set by the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors.
