This seminar aims to provide an Overview of property law

  • Overview of key drivers for commercial developers in a way they contract
  • Density issues, ie use of incorporated societies, shared place planning and management
  • Issues for Council
  • Unit Titles and alternatives to them
  • Resource Consent conditions
  • Existing use rights

Attendees will receive a good overview of property law and an understanding of the critical commercial pressures on developers. They will also have an understanding of the various tools available for development density and we will touch on some resource consenting existing use considerations also. This will allow the attendees to have the ability to better understand their client’s commercial drivers and the likely reactions of Councils to better plan developments and work streams.

Stephanie Harris, Joint Managing Partner

Stephanie acts for investors and developers with commercial property portfolios in both the private and public sector. With nearly 20 years experience, I have gained invaluable expertise in undertaking large and complex property transactions and developments.

She provides strategic and legal advice on every aspect of property law as it relates to commercial property transactions and ownership structures, including negotiations for acquisition and sale, all associated matters, and any subsequent disputes arising. She also advises on many complex lease and development structures including the necessary funding arrangements for her clients.

In addition, she acts for a number of high profile businesses, both small medium enterprises and larger corporates. And, she attends to their day to day business requirements; in particular, as those requirements relate to terms and conditions of supply, security interests, general structuring, and finance.

Stephanie aims to deliver excellence to her clients in terms of her legal technical skills and to provide precise problem solving solutions together with a clear and detailed understanding of what is the best client outcome.

Nicola Harrison- Senior Associate

Nicola looks after commercial property investors and developers, government entities, incorporated societies, commercial landlords, franchisers, and various high profile small medium enterprises.

With over 18 years’ experience in NZ and the UK, she takes a holistic approach to their clients’ requests anticipating their needs and always tailoring advice, agreements, and strategies in a way that meets their goals, deals with their internal requirements, and puts in place strategies for streamlining work and revenue flows. She works closely with Stephanie Harris, Joint Managing Partner. They ensure that the client’s commercial goal is kept foremost in mind, and achieved in the most timely and cost effective manner possible.
